About the Job :
Our client is a large oil and gas engineering company with projects worldwide. A vacancy has arisen for a Lead Process Safety Engineer/ Loss Prevention Engineer to be located in their North East offices on either a contract or permanent basis. This role will be reporting to the Technical SHE Manager providing support across the power and process division.
The role will involve being accountable for the Technical SHE project team delivering the appropriate activities for on a project to cost, schedule and quality criteria. You will provide technical / professional expertise and lead a Technical SHE project team within multidiscipline teams for oil/gas/petrochemical engineering design projects. Provide progress information required for the preparation of the project programme and agree strategies to complete the project within the constraints of budget and timescales. You will provide Safety, Health & Environmental legislation to the organisation / project team, being committed to promotion of best practice in SHE issues across the project.

Profile of Ideal Candidate :
The successful candidate must hold a degree in safety engineering or related subject, coupled with skills gained in onshore oil and gas, chemical or petrochemical sectors. You must be able to lead a team of engineers and have the ability to work across engineering disciplines and understand / advise on Safety, Health & Environmental issues. You will have sufficient knowledge of construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance and demolition to be able to accommodate build ability, operability, maintainability and accessibility into the design. You will understand statutory/regulatory requirements and have good client interface skills.
