The global CTSC (Customer Technical Support Center) has an opening for a Development Engineer based in Tarragona (Spain). The incumbent will be working as part of a European CTSC team is aligned with the technical and application leaders in the Plastics business. The individual will report to the European CTSC Leader. The CTSC team is part of the larger Research & Development organization and is globally connected with the teams in North America, Latin America and the Pacific. The European CTSC organization is a culturally diverse team with people from 10 different nationalities.
The CTSC is responsible for Technical Support, Product Quality Management, Knowledge Management and Technical Training. The CTSC acts also as internal technical resource for other Dow personnel including field sales, TS&D (Technical Service & Development) and Customer Service and is accountable to deliver the technical support for the distribution channel.
1. Technical Support & Development: The candidate is responsible to provide accurate, timely technical service on products and fabrication methods related to the European Plastics Technology portfolio. She / he must take ownership of inquiries and is accountable for their satisfactory resolution. Technical contributions include product recommendations, trouble-shooting and fabrication technology expertise. With technical responsibility for a defined group of customers, he/she works closely with sales and other Dow functions.
2. Quality: The candidate is responsible to lead investigations on product performance quality issues and to identify root causes of failure. He / she participates in cross-functional quality teams to analyze and recommend actions to drive improved product quality performance across an assigned product family.
3. Knowledge Management: He / she acts as a technical focal point within the CTSC to ensure accuracy and availability of key technical information for assigned products or markets.
4. Training: He / she is responsible to prepare and deliver technical training to internal and external customers related to assigned areas of expertise.
5. Project Management: He / she leads customer or market aligned projects. These projects require the candidate to identify and understand the application and customer needs, to translate identified needs into development opportunities, to develop and implement new products, applications and technologies. |

Profile of Ideal Candidate :
Knowledge of polymers and/or polymer fabrication technologies gained through a university level and advanced education (Master Degree - Ph.D.) in Polymer Material Science, Fabrication Technology or Engineering, or closely related fields.
Proficiency in English and of minimum one major Eastern European language (Polish, Russian, Czech) is required. Good knowledge of German is considered an important asset for the position.
We seek a candidate with strong team working skills and high initiative and the ability to work independently in a diverse multi-task environment. Strong technical skills and a passion for technology are required to be successful within the R&D function.
Mobility and ability to travel approximately 20% of the time, essentially within Europe. |
