The RoleThe RoleOur client, one of the world's largest gold mining companies with the strongest production growth profile among all major gold companies, is a Canadian based company which employs more than 9,000 people worldwide. Our client is currently seeking a Senior Mine Planner. The Position: Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Senior Planner will be responsible for various activities related to mine design, development of plans and schedules, optimization exercises and analysis at our client’s gold mine site in northern Ontario. Primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following: • Long term mine design, planning and scheduling using the Mine2-4D suite of software • Engineering systems analysis and design • Performing financial evaluations and cost analysis for operating and capital project justification • Providing engineering support for our underground operations • Additional responsibilities may include rock mechanics and projects work • Reserves calculations • Developing and promoting the use of mine planning standards, guidelines, procedures and systems The role is based at our client’s gold mine in Northern Ontario which offers excellent medical facilities as well as primary and secondary schools. The natural environment of beautiful lakes and forests lead to great recreational fishing, hunting, camping, and hiking. The public beaches are a great attraction to families as well as our 18-hole golf course and indoor arena. Groomed snowmobile trails are prevalent throughout the area. The Municipality is a friendly, family oriented community. |
RequirementsRequirementsThe Candidate: The ideal candidate will possess a technologist diploma in Mining Engineering in addition to 5 years of progressive technical experience in an underground hard rock mining environment. The incumbent must possess excellent communication, organizational and presentation skills and a demonstrated high level of computer fluency as applied to mining. Experience in narrow vein gold mining is an asset as is working knowledge of Mine2-4D. The position demands a highly motivated person, with a strong safety focus and the capability to work positively with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative, and energetic environment.
