The RoleThe RolePURPOSE To direct and control the design, planning, engineering, implementation, operations and maintenance of Company’s Telecommunications Infrastructure with cost effective telecommunications and data communications solutions to meet business requirements. ROLE Formulate an overall strategy for Telecommunication Services to ensure optimum investment in SEIC’s Telecommunications Infrastructure. Build the telecommunication section to take on the management and support of the Telecommunication Infrastructure and ensure Operational Readiness of the infrastructure as implemented by the Phase II project. Specify, scope and cost new infrastructure and data communications projects. Review and approve service improvement proposals related to telecommunications. Ensure management systems are operational that can measure system performance of all telecommunications systems in place to ensure that agreed service levels can be maintained. Develop KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and report on these at the agreed intervals. Manage capital and operating budgets and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) for telecommunications. Manage the Services as provided by the company's central support organisation GITI (Group IT Infrastructure). Specify appropriate security measures to protect the integrity of the telecommunications infrastructure and complete all tasks according to Trust Domain (security) standards DIMENSIONS: One direct staff now but within the next 2 years this will grow to approximately 15 direct staff and an additional 13 indirect contractor staff A yearly budget of USD 8.5 million, excluding manpower Ultimately responsible for an infrastructure that is valued in excess of USD 80 million MAIN CHALLENGES: Ensure that a telecommunication section is in place, sufficiently staffed with adequately trained specialists Translate business requirements into practical solutions and anticipate the type of services required Integration and development of Company’s infrastructure within the company’s central support model Keep abreast with fast moving technology and standards within the telecommunication discipline |
RequirementsRequirementsREQUIREMENT Self motivated, ambitious, telecommunication professional Graduate, in electrical engineering or similar. At least 15 years post university experience in the field of telecommunications Must have a good command of the English language Excellent technical skills SPECIAL COMPETENCES REQUIRED: Extensive technical knowledge of Telecommunications & Data Communications Good organisational, planning and project management skills Sound commercial understanding and good cost management Good team working skills and customer focused attitude. Willingness to learn and broaden into new technical areas. |
