Our client is currently seeking a Long Term Planning/Project Engineer. THE POSITION Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the Long Term Planning Project Engineer will be responsible for various activities related to mine design, development of plans and schedules, optimization exercises and analysis at our clientˇ¦s gold mine site in northern Ontario including designing and scheduling ongoing Capital Projects, conceptual mining plans for future mining areas, and infrastructure upgrades (Vent, Pumping, Air & Water). Other responsibilities for this position will include, but not be limited to the following: Providing underground project engineering support to operations Ensuring regulatory and inter-company procedural compliance. Identifying areas for engineered safety improvements in underground operations. Generating competent, workable, and safe mine designs and systems designs. Completing ramp and level designs and schedules. Identify and champion opportunities to optimize the contractorˇ¦s efforts (overbreak, advance rates, ventilation, pumping) Initial input into decisions regarding design of Capital development and future mining areas. Complete conceptual design and scheduling of future mining areas. Consider infrastructure, material handling, ventilation, services, equipment requirements and engineered safety on new installations/equipment. Identify and implement engineering projects to enhance safety and operational effectiveness as part of a continuous improvement strategy. Complete engineering work on projects identified by the engineering and operating groups. Project management and tendering of contracts and cost estimation and risk assessment. Manage consultants and contractors on engineering projects. This mine site is a fly-in, fly-out commuter operation on a 14 x 14 day schedule (14 days on and 14 days off with 12 hour days at site). T here is a modern camp, kitchen and recreation centre available to employees. The recreation centre offers a full size gymnasium, weight room and saunas. RequirementsRequirementsTHE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelorˇ¦s of Science in Mining Engineering or equivalent engineering degree with a minimum of four years of mine operation and engineering experience and a minimum of one year experience in a leadership role, preferable with underground operations and construction in a narrow vein gold mine environment. Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong communication and people skills and the ability to effectively create strategic relationships with engineering, operations and management personnel. The incumbent must be able to able to gain the alignment of the engineering, project, geology and operation groups and effectively establish priorities to meet the companyˇ¦s strategic goals. This position interacts with the following external contacts: Federal, provincial, and municipal government, Mining and professional associations, consultants, contractors, and suppliers and Ontario Ministry of Labour.
